Research

The Department of Finance, Accounting and Statistics is a key player in the research landscape at WU. While offering all its members the opportunity to specialize in diverse fields of research it opens up and supports cooperation among different disciplines and topics. The main aim of the Department is to strengthen its presence in international research and be a key institution both in the areas of basic and applied research. Scholarly achievements are made visible in national and international publications.

Within the framework of the respective research areas, the Institutes of the Department offer numerous seminars:
Accounting Research Seminar

The Institute for Accounting & Auditing organizes an Accounting Research Seminar each semester. At the seminar researchers from the disciplines of Accounting, Auditing, Business Taxation and Controlling present their current research papers that are discussed afterwards.

Finance Brown Bag Seminar

Scholars at WU, the PhD students of VGSF as well as international guests present their working papers for discussion in the Brown Bag Seminar. The Finance Brown Bag Seminar is organized by the Institute of Finance, Banking and Insurance together with the Institute for Financial Research, the Vienna Institute of Finance and the Vienna Graduate School of Finance.

Finance Research Seminar 

The VGSF organizes the weekly VGSF Finance Research Seminar where international researchers present and discuss with local researchers and PhD students their state-of-the-art research.

Statistics & Mathematics Research Seminar

The Institute of Statistics & Mathematics hosts a Statistics & Mathematics Research Seminar every semester. In the seminar, researchers will present their current research work.

PhD Research Seminar in Mathematics for Economics and Business

The PhD Research Seminar in Mathematics for Economics and Business is a forum where PhD students and postdocs present their research projects; work in progress is fully ok. Moreover, some more senior faculty members talk about their work.
